Zoe Starr found herself in hospital with severe tonsillitis a week before her wedding to Michael Vicelich.
“Michael was stressing I wouldn’t make it down the aisle,” laughs Zoe, 24. “It was still the best day of our lives though.”
The Sydney pair met while working at the same bar, but it wasn’t until six months after Zoe left her job that Michael, now 28, asked her on their first date.
18 months into their relationship, Michael proposed during an after-dinner walk by iconic Sydney Harbour. “Michael told me to take a photo of us on my phone, and while I was distracted he hopped down on one knee with a beautiful big diamond!” recalls Zoe.
On May 27, 2017 Zoe and Michael wed before 230 guests at a classic European wedding at Curzon Hall in Marsfield, NSW.
Even with the bout of tonsillitis that saw Zoe hospitalised the very next day, she says their wedding was “absolutely crazy and amazing.”
“Our goal was to make sure the guests had the best time possible. We had many courses of amazing food, a photobooth and props, creative lighting areas, a magician, a live Croatian band and a DJ. Plenty to keep the guests entertained and the feedback was that it was the best wedding everyone had ever been to!”
If Zoe were to give future couples advice when embarking on their wedding planning journey, she says, “Don’t stress yourself to the point of putting yourself in hospital!”

“Michael is the exact opposite to me. We balance each other out – the classic ying and yang,” describes Zoe.

“We wanted a classic European wedding with ivory and golds, all about romance,” describes Zoe.

The pair’s incredible wedding photos and video was captured by Studio RL Photography. “Our photos and video was admired by all for the way they showed our relationship as husband and wife,” says Zoe.

“We truly believe our wedding conveyed the real meaning of romance while still being modern.”
