“Dean [Nadzielski] and I met while working at a pub,” says 26-year-old Johanna. But before she had even been on a date with Dean, 26, he had announced to his family she was “the one”. “Our love of the outdoors brought us closer together and we now have his and hers matching surf boards!”
Their proposal took on a more unusual format, with Johanna popping the big question as part of a radio stunt for Melbourne’s Nova 100. “It was part of their Leap Year Proposal,” explains Johanna. “To which Dean said yes!”
The couple’s classic wedding on February 21, 2014, in Victoria begun at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lilydale followed by a magical reception at Chateau Wyuna in Mt Evelyn. “The last few days leading up to the wedding I was an emotional mess,” laughs Johanna. “Anything that made me happy saw me breaking down in tears.”
Speeches were a surprising time for the 130 guests when the bride and groom decided to spice things up a little. “We took to the podium with a trophy and in American accents performed our speeches as if we were being awarded an Oscar,” laughs Johanna.

Dean knew Johanna was “the one” the moment he met her.
