An interstate love affair between Queenslander Hayley Caruso and Melburnian Murray Ropiha didn’t last long.
That’s because shortly into their relationship, 28-year-old Hayley decided to take the plunge and move to Melbourne to be with Murray, 24. Their wedding plans began with a romantic proposal near Luna Park. “It was on St Kilda Beach with the lights and music of Luna Park in the background,” explains Hayley. “He put the most gorgeous ring on my finger and I couldn’t possibly have said no!”
Their fairy tale wedding on November 2, 2013 was planned in just days by Hayley – a self-confessed organiser. “We had set a date, all that was left was to put every dollar earned into our special day.”
They wed at Docklands in Melbourne with more than 100 guests. “Being a lover of photography I had chosen four photo locations (the poor bridal party). We got through them all with lots of smiles and laughs,” smiles Hayley.
Their reception location looked over Victoria Harbour and the Bolte Bridge creating an impressive view as the sun set, says Hayley. “Our guests were greeted with champagne and canapés before entering the Waterfront Room. Decorated with crystal chandeliers, mirrors and candles it was a true modern day, fairy tale-inspired room.”

Melbourne couturiers D’Italia created Hayley’s extravagant gown.

“Our special day is proof you can have a modern day fairy tale wedding planned within a strict time frame and budget,” says Hayley.
