You’ve got to hand it to a bride who decides to plan her vineyard wedding while studying to become doctor. #crazy
But luckily Megan French, 25, had her mum by her side helping organise the big day where she would marry high-school sweetheart, Blake Dynan, 27.
“My mum was my wedding planner and dealt with everything for me – I needed her as my year of studies was consuming my life,” says Megan. “Luckily Blake is very easy going and helped make simple decisions along the way.”
Decisions leading up to the January 11, 2013 wedding were cutthroat to ensure everything was arranged on time. “I had to make smart decisions quickly and I honestly had no hesitations as I was so busy,” laughs Megan. “My desk was a combination of medical textbooks and wedding magazines!”
When the day for 80 finally arrived, the pair faced scorching 40-degree weather in the Yarra Valley. “It was worth it for the sunshine,” smiles Megan.
Megan’s mum was in charge of the venue décor, creating unique pieces to suit the winery setting. “Each table was named according to a wine – for example, merlot, shiraz – with the bridal party’s table being Champagne,” explains Megan. “Each table number was held up by corkscrews which we glued together and strung with twine.”

Of her Fairytales Bridal gown, Megan says, “My dress was one of the first ones I tried on, it literally picked me!” Her bridesmaids wore Baccini & Hill.

Megan and Blake won’t struggle to remember their wedding anniversary. Megan’s parents and grandparents were also married in January.

The groom was dressed by Zenetti and his groomsmen by Spurling.

The couple chose Immerse Winery for its relaxed setting and “we love wine,” says Megan.
