Bosnian beauty Jasna Delic was determined to have plenty of her heritage on show at her Sydney wedding to soulmate Alen Pirija.
It was fate that brought the couple together, finding themselves at a Bosnian concert neither had planned to attend.
“There was something that drew me to him and vice versa,” remembers Jasna and, although neither had the courage to strike up a conversation (and who could hear anyway!), Jasna was “determined to get in touch with him.” She tracked Alen down through acquaintances which eventually led to their first date and later, a proposal in Croatia.
It was therefore only fitting they celebrated their culture with a Bosnian wedding.
Their traditional ceremony on January 17, 2015, was held at Penshurst Mosque in front of 215 guests. The Bosnian-themed reception followed at Doltone House, Sylvania Waters.
Traditional Balkan music, Bosnian alcohol on every table and plenty of fine food added to party atmosphere for Jasna, 23, and Alen, 30.
“Our night was one of celebration and partying – lots of food, lots of music and just lots of happiness, joy and fun,” Jasna says.
“After five years we’re still so thankful and in disbelief we managed to find each other.”

Alen proposed to Jasna while on holiday in Dubrovnik, Croatia. ” It was so lovely because the next six weeks of our holiday we got to spend being engaged,” Jasna says.

“The thing we both love about one another is that we can be ourselves; we make each other laugh all the time and we see eye to eye on things that cross our path,” Jasna says.
