Meeting later in life didn’t stop Cressida Ward and Martin Thiess from creating the family of their dreams.
After Martin, 44, “passed” the third date – albeit involving a shopping spree to modernise his wardrobe – Cressida, 42, moved from her inner-city apartment to live with Martin and his teenage son in the ‘burbs. A trip to Bali to purchase some art and furniture transformed Martin’s apartment from a bachelor pad into their new home.
“Our long-term love and commitment was cemented very early in the relationship,” says Cressida. So there began some family planning and with some medical help the pair conceived a baby boy, Theodore, completing the family of four.
Their riverside wedding on October 12, 2013, also happened to be the bride’s fortieth birthday! “We love being by the water so we got married on the Brisbane River and then had a sit down lunch afterwards at Eves on the River, Teneriffe,” says the bride. ”We all kicked on afterwards at Claret House for my birthday drinks as we couldn’t finish the day without celebrating my milestone of turning 40.”
The couple say they are over the moon their family is now complete and look forward to sharing their lives together.
