Rad Mutaliph won the heart of Janelle Reyes with a no-fail tactic: chocolate and ice-cream.
The Melbourne couple met in design school 12 years ago, studying the same degree. “I was shy, but throughout the year we got to know one another more,” explains Janelle, 29 or her 34-year-old beau. “It took Rad a lot of ice-cream and chocolate bribes to slowly win my heart.”
Fast-forward to 2015 and Rad whisked Janelle away on a birthday trip to Crystal Creek Rainforest in NSW. “Our accommodation was among the treetops and secluded within the beautiful rainforest,” recalls Janelle. “I was so ecstatic with the place that I already thought it was the best surprise ever.” But there was also a proposal in store, where Janelle was presented with a pink sapphire and diamond halo ring, designed by Rad himself. “After a day of rainforest hiking, when we got back to our accommodation, I stepped in to see the whole place lit up with 100 candles… and that’s when Rad went down on one knee.”
The pair married at their Lyrebird Falls wedding on March 6, 2015 in the presence of 86 guests. They chose a subtle theme, letting the stunning surroundings speak for themselves. “Taking advantage of the beautiful outdoors and forest of the Dandenong Ranges as our natural décor, we kept it simple with shades of pink and navy blue,” smiles Janelle.

“Being obsessed with the colour pink, I didn’t want the traditional ‘something blue,'” says Janelle. She chose hot pink stilettos to match her pink sapphire engagement ring.

Janelle’s layered princess-style gown with matching veil was a Tara Keely design from Eternal Bridal.
The gazebo at Lyrebird Falls was a beautiful backdrop for the couple’s personalised vows.
Rad and his groomsmen suited up in fitted blue suits from Peter Jackson whilst Janelle’s maids wore the hero hue from Forever New.

Cake studio Vindya created the four-tier red velvet cake, themed ‘golden forest’ and dressed with pink flowers.
