Animal lovers Lisa King and Kym Pallot headed to Victoria’s picturesque Yarra Glen for a fuss-free, rustic wedding.
The Melbourne couple first met in a high school photography class but as the bride says, “barely spoke two words to each other.” “I thought Kym was a bit of a trouble-maker and all he remembered about me was the back of my head full of hair,” laughs Lisa, 32.
Meeting up again post-graduation through a mutual friend, one thing led to another and the pair were happily in love for more than a decade before Kym casually proposed. “The proposal took place under a beautiful waterfall whilst on holiday in Vanuatu,” Lisa describes. “So I guess you could say it was worth the wait! Of course I said ‘Yes,’ and Kym’s response was, ‘Cheers!'”
With their wedding date set for March 5, 2015, Lisa says there was no question that Zonzo Estate would be the venue for their “rustic, casual but classy wedding.” The Kilsyth couple wed in front of 86 family and friends at the stunning winery.
“Traditions were kept to a minimum, our ceremony was simple yet personal and everything from the flowers to the music was carefully selected to reflect us,” Lisa says.
“It was an amazing day that we will cherish always.”

Linea of the Yarra Valley took care of hair and make-up for the big day. “It was most important that the make-up was not overdone,” Lisa says. “Natural tones were a must.”
Kym and his groomsmen opted for fitted navy suits from Formal Red.
“There was nothing fancy or over the top about our wedding – it was quite simply a celebration of everything we share together and everything and everyone we love,” Lisa says.
The bride’s gorgeous gown, from Ferrari Formalwear and Bridal featured an elegant train and keyhole back.
“Kym and I have now been together for almost 14 years,” Lisa says. “We have a lot in common and similar values but we also enjoy different things.”
Colourful blooms and vintage pieces added a rustic touch to the reception celebrations.
After a day they will never forget, Lisa and Kym spent their first night together as husband and wife at Balgownie Estate Vineyard Resort and Spa.
