When your wedding plans go awry, all you can do is smile … and lean on some others for support.
Katrina Jensen, 32, and Christopher King, 29, married at their rustic country wedding on April 18, 2015. But despite best-laid plans by the bride, a few challenges were thrown their way. “No matter what people tell you I don’t think you can ever really prepare yourself for the big day, explains Katrina. “I had everything ticked off the checklist and ready to go, well that went out the window.”
After a farm gate holding their wedding sign was broken off by a passing car and her maid of honour experienced a busted zipper – then the bride’s dress was also in trouble. “Despite all that happened, my amazing three brothers fixed the gate, my bridesmaids stitched my maid of honour into her dress and helped me keep it together and keep away the tears,” smiles Katrina.
Almost 100 guests attended the wedding at Laidley Farm south of Brisbane, owned by the bride’s aunt and uncle. “We said ‘I do’s’ and set off on our photography adventure on the back of a tractor and trailer, to explore the fields,” describes Katrina. “Drink jars in hand, cheese platter close by and a few not-so-friendly spiders.”
“The clouds then rolled in and so increased the fun.”

“I was hoping to be engaged by the time I was 30, so my now-husband kept me in suspense and proposed to me the day before my 30th birthday,” smiles Katrina. “It’s lucky I love him.”

“Carry a personal camera with you,” is Katrina’s advice for other brides. “For those sneaky shots between friends.”

Despite the few hiccups on the day, the bride says guests were “none the wiser.”

Katrina and Chris entertained guests with an almost-impromptu line dance, thrown together the night before. “We pulled it off!”
