Topping a proposal on Paris’ love-lock bridge will be tough, guys!
Charel Cowan, 24, and Sean Hooper, 26, met in high school nine years ago, two dates later the pair were an item. Fast forward six years and the Brisbane couple were holidaying in the city of love when Sean proposed. The Pont des Arts bridge in Paris is famous for its gathering of locks where couples go to secure their romance for a lifetime. Sean handed Charel their lock with “Will you marry me?” written on it. “I said, ‘Of course, you idiot,’” laughs Charel.
The couple married in a glamorous wedding on November 11, 2015 surrounded by 83 loved ones. The Maleny Hinterland on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast helped create the most stunning photos, many of which were captured after their ceremony at Maleny Manor, where the reception was also held. The bride chose a princess-style gown with a full skirt and sweetheart lace bodice, paired with vibrant flower arrangements in pinks, purples and blues.
Charel says the best part of the day, was of course, was marrying her best friend. “What I love most about Sean is his big heart, he will always go out of his way for his friends and family,” she praises. Sean says he loves Charel’s organisational skills and that she never lets people down. “Knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with you makes me very happy,” he said.

Evalyn Parsons Hair pulled together this soft, elegant hairstyle, in contrast to Charel’s more dramatic makeup.
“I love bright colours so I wanted my bouquet to represent that,” says Charel.

“We had our dog as our flower girl,” says Charel. She was adorned in a fresh-flower collar.
Sean and his crew were dressed in pale grey by Roger David.

“All my suppliers were amazing and truly made my wedding day,” says the bride.
